The Government has announced plans to phase out the compulsory retirement age of 65 in April.
Dr Ros Altman, Director General of SAGA, explains why the current age limit no longer works on the BBC Radio 4 'Today' Programme :
The 'Employment Relations Minister', Ed Davey told the Programme that the move "shouldn't be the problem that some people suggest....the evidence that productivity and performance declines after 65 is just not there."
The move "will boost the number of jobs in our economy," he argued, and so help tackle youth unemployment.
