I remember watching Up The Junction, Poor Cow & the stinging #CathyComeHome in the mid 1960's as a very young girl & it's hard hitting message which shook the very foundations of our welfare state & left a marked impression on my social conscience which is still with me today. Ken Loach is a #Hero of mine and a very fine film maker. I have Jimmy's Hall on my to view list & I, Daniel Blake when it opens. I am hoping to see Versus, The Life & Films of Ken Loach, with extended Q&A at Sheffield Doc Fest, in mid June with Ken in attendance. The punitive changes made by the Tory Government in the Reform of the Welfare state are far reaching & there are ill judged & unfair decisions being made by JCP & DWP lackies bringing misery and despair to those, who may, through no fault of their own, found themselves ill or out of work & the disabled made to fight for every penny they receive. Add to this #Decision Makers who are #Clueless about specific disabilities & it is a recipe for societal breakdown. Whoever thought we would need #Foodbanks in 21st century UK? https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/da/4e/0d/da4e0d076f6b9674542b525aea8966da.jpgDorothy Langmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15666804143998080813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-605625879464789847.post-78802311135559833962016-05-26T05:44:11.521-07:002016-05-26T05:44:11.521-07:00Ken said : "There is a conscious cruelty in t...Ken said : "There is a conscious cruelty in the way we're organising our lives now, where the most vulnerable people are told that their poverty is their own fault. If you have no work, it's your fault you haven't got a job." Back in November he told the Guardian : “The present system is one of conscious cruelty. It bears down on those least able to bear it. The bureaucratic inefficiency is vindictive and hunger is being used as a weapon. People are being forced to look for work that doesn’t exist.”<br />Hear hear Ken !visiongreenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17959238229357855653noreply@blogger.com
