Britain is a country where Elton John as an 'old' celebrity father is not alone

Apparently, the announcement that the 62 year old Elton John and his 48 year old partner are now fathers is causing controversy because of their age.






Elton, however, is not alone because :

Rod Stewart : was 60 : when Alistair was born
Sir Paul McCartney : was 61 : when Beatrice was born
Michael Gambon : was 68 : when William was born
Des O'Connor : was 72 : when Adam was born

Having failed to adopt a child Elton and David went abroad for surrogacy parenthood. The couple have not said which of them is the biological father of the baby who was born via a surrogate mother in California on Christmas Day and is Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John.
Elton, wed David in a civil partnership ceremony in 2005 after 12 years together. They first attempted to adopt an HIV positive child from the Ukraine last year, but were rejected because of Elton's age and the fact that the country did not recognise civil marriages.
