Britain is a country where old journalists tell old jokes from France which strike a chord with old men

Simon Hoggart is a 66 year old journalist whose weekly column in 'The Gaurdian' newspaper I've been reading and enjoying for years, but not quite the 46 years I've been a reader. Simon related a joke he had heard 'from a nice restaurateur' he'd met in France last week. It's worth repeating, as Simon said : 'You won't need me to spell out what is being described. Unlike most jokes, it has a title, :
                                       MMS'
At 20 years : Matin, Midi, Soir.
At 40 years : Mardi, Mercredi, Samedi.
At 60 years : Mars, Mai, Septembre.
And finally at 80 : Mes Meilleurs Souvenirs.
