Britain is no country for, yet awash with more and more old men

Age UK has just published its most recent survey and drawn from a number of sources and entitled : 'Later Life in the United Kingdom' which revealed that in Britain :



* each year, another 650,000 old men and women reach the age of 65 or put another way :

x 325,000

 

 

 

* there are are now more old people over the age of 60 than young people under 18.

* there are 10,300,000 old men and women aged 65 and over.
* there are over 1,400,000 very old men and women are aged 85 or over.
* there were 12,000 very,very old men and women over the age of 100 and over in 2010.

* the number of old people aged 65 + is projected to rise by nearly 50% in the next 20 years to over 16,000,000.
