Britain is a country where old men remember Gene Kelly 'Singing in the Rain' when they were boys and Morecambe and Wise when they were 'youngish' men

I watched a wonderful biopic on tv last night about the early years of the great British Comedian duo of Morcambe and Wise.

It was preceded by a repeat of their 1976 'Christmas Special' which featured their 'Singing in the Rain' which I first watched when I was 29 years old. It made me smile and laugh and reflect that the humour of great comedians is timeless :

It also made me think about the original sequence in Gene Kelly's film 'Singing in the Rain' which my Dad took me to see when I was a little boy of 5 years old in 1952. Kelly's exhuberance and joy is just as tangible today as it was almost 60 years ago :

P.S.
Eric died at the age of 58, 26 years ago and Ernie at 74, 11 years ago.
